~~a geeks journey through the internet~~
9 May
While I don’t consider myself a gossip blogger in any sort, this case was local, so the media coverage was over and above. Our local news channel, Bay News 9 was in the courtroom and has been broadcasting for the past several hours, most of which I have either been watching or had on in the background and listened while I was doing other work. I will also also mention that I have mixed feelings about the whole case simply because I was once 17-years old, and its safe to say that I was not always the best behaved. Anyway the case details, or actually the verdict
The sentence was handed out, he received:
He also was given 8 months in the county jail, which the time behind bars counts as part of the probation and he will receive one day credit for the time he already served. Nick was also taken into custody immediately to begin his sentence. Another item to note is that Nick will not be allowed to buyout his community service hours, he must actually complete them all personally.
The adjudication was also withheld, meaning at some point in his life he can appeal to have this removed from his record.
Overall I am not sure how I feel about this judgement, on one hand I think he got just what he deserved, but on the other hand I was once a stupid teenager and things that me and me friends have done in the past could have gone horribly wrong. I guess my friends and I just got lucky, hopefully others in his age group and others in general will take a few extra seconds and think about what the outcome may be.
