~~a geeks journey through the internet~~

Well I committed my $50 and registered for IZEAFest 2008 in Orlando Florida. Overall I am not a big conference/event person, but feel like, since its so close to home (ie: no airline travel needed) that it would be foolish to miss out on.
It should be a good event and hopefully I will get some good networking time in. Looking over the schedule it seems the speakers are all very knowledgeable and also well known. That should prove to be well worth the registration fee.
The event begins on the evening of Thursday September 11 and runs through Sunday September 13, 2008 and takes place at the Grand Bohemiam Hotel in Orlando Florida.

Well not me, but this title is more a subject as to what sometimes happens online. I follow a fairly large amount of sites online. Some for the sole purpose of just seeing where that individual is going and how things evolve and such. A recent posting from one such site really got me thinking about where we spend our online time and it will make me question how much I will involve myself into places online in the future.
While I have talked about building a community or group of friends using this website, its purpose is not about making money, but to share my experience and thoughts. It would be nice to eventually see some advertising money come in, but its more a place to enjoy and vent for me and not a money making opportunity.
Of course as clear as I can say that, anyone reading this will never know my true intentions. I will say that I am not building this site up for a future sale, of course if anyone came along and offered my an insane amount of money I would not turn it away, but aside from the one-in-a-million (or greater) chance this site will remain mine.

A little something about me:
I deal with OCD on a daily basis, but sometimes it really acts up, which it has been lately. Sometimes I do things that are just silly for the simple fact that it makes me feel better or slightly more relaxed.
When I am rational and really think about it, I understand that doing these things (rituals) are foolish and most often a waste of time, but at the same time cannot help feeling better when I “have” to do them.
Of course I cannot feel bad for myself because I also refuse to go on medication for it, because I fear (yes there is some paranoia as well) that I will be labeled as crazy. So what better way to make it public, other than confidential doctors records, is to blog it.

I have complained about this topic before and this is just a perfect example of why people should not always syndicate their feeds into their Twitter account.
The name was blanked out here, because I did not want to pick on anyone specific, but this was just a perfect example, and its something that way too many people are guilty of.
This person is sending their blog posts to their Twitter account, something that I personally find annoying, but I will explain more on later in the post.
But what makes this so bad is they are also posting a daily summary of their Tweets on their blog. So what happens is that I (and many others) get to see a Tweet about a new blog post, that simply lists all their Tweets, which I have already seen during the day.
