I have been using both the Apple Bluetooth headset and the Jawbone headset for the past week or so and here are some of my thoughts. Part of my thoughts will go back to the fact that I have been using a (approx.) 4 year old Jabra Bluetooth headset, so I am sure that some of my amazement would be due to the fact that I now have two good headsets. I was planning on continuing using the Jabra but being the Apple Fanboy that I am I thought the iPhone deserved more. So initially I purchased the Apple Bluetooth headset when I bought my iPhone, but when waiting for it to arrive I saw this Jawbone video and decided I had to test it out. So now I have 2 great headsets and each have some really good points…so good in fact that I may continue to use both on a regular basis.

Apple Bluetooth: $129.00
Pro’s:

  • Very small and easy to carry when not in use.
  • Easy, auto pairing with the iPhone

Con’s:

  • Possibly a little small and may get lost in a pocket or bag.
  • No noise cancellation feature

Jawbone: $119.99 (available in Silver, Black or Red)

Pro’s:

  • Great overall sound quality.
  • Noise cancellation works well

Con’s:

  • While I am not saying this is 100% perfect I cannot really say to much negative about it.
  • Comfortable to wear, but a little bulky.

Overall I have decided that each headset has some good and some bad points when compared to each. I also plan to keep and use both, I will use each based on where I am going and what else I may have in my pocket that day. The Apple headset is great and the quality is good, just not as good as the Jawbone. I used each headset for a few days and no one that I spoke with ever complained about not hearing me.

I did some test calls with some geeks I know and let them know which headset I was using, they all seemed to think the Jawbone sounded better. Which with the way it is made is not really any surprise. I will also say that no one complained about the Apple headset though. I made several calls to (non-geek) friends and family and they all were more than pleased with the quality of the Apple headset.

So for the average person who just wants (or needs) one headset I would say go for whichever you like better. They both are great!
